Dawn Simpson

Dawn is a Physiotherapist and Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy with the University of Newcastle, and an Emerging Leader with the International Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery Alliance. Dawn’s research focuses on post-stroke fatigue, and she was awarded a 2023 Stroke Foundation Seed Grant that will facilitate the co-design and testing a novel psychoeducational tool for post-stroke fatigue. She was part of the international 3rd Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation Roundtable Fatigue Task Force, leading the Lived Experience Advisory Group. She now continues to work with other leading experts in post-stroke fatigue across the world to develop new interventions for fatigue, and tools to help health professionals support their clients when living with fatigue. Dawn is also interested in factors that influence sedentary behaviour and physical activity for stroke survivors, and health service models that could support improved rehabilitation and recovery outcomes for survivors of stroke.
