PARTICIPANT FAQS

The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) have provided a grant to Engage VR Rehab between July 2024 and June 2025 to provide residents of Newcastle, Tamworth and Armidale an alternate option for their rehabilitation.

Engage VR is a multidisciplinary health organisation that provides innovative, engaging and highly successful rehabilitation programs. We support clients requiring complex rehabilitation and create new pathways to a supportive community network, enhancing client progress and connection. Established in 2019, Engage VR was the first clinic in Australia to use technologies such as Virtual and Augmented Reality and we are proud of our innovation and ability to provide our clients with a solution they may not have experienced with traditional health clinics.

Engage VR has head office based in Newcastle; however we offer services to clients all around Australia.

Engage VR team includes physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech Pathologists and Exercise Physiologists.

Virtual Reality or VR, as it is better known, allows users to access a simulated experience whilst wearing a set of VR goggles. These simulated experiences can be used to provide experiences for many things, however at Engage VR Rehab we use it to provide experiences to clients so they can complete various rehabilitation activities.

These activities can include arm and leg movements, fine motor tasks, fitness activities and completing functional tasks like shopping etc similar to what you would do in a typical therapy session.

Anyone who has suffered a stroke, brain injury, has Parkinsons disease(PD) or Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and is stable and medically able to participate in rehabilitation.

Engage VR will provide you with a detailed assessment of your condition and provide you with a personalised rehabilitation program. You will get the opportunity to work with highly experienced clinicians and innovative technology.

The program costs are all covered by the Grant that Engage VR Rehab has received.
